Scrappy Along
Feeling overwhelmed with your leftover skeins and scraps from projects? Do you have too many orphan or onesie skeins?
The studio will be hosting a Scrappy Along, August 12- September 4. Geared for all knitters, crocheters, weavers and embroiderers to clear some of your bits and bobs with the pattern of your choice as we all cheer each other on! So, gather up all those little balls of yarn and start searching for just the right pattern(s). Wait, what? You get rid of those bits and bobs? Say it isn’t so! For the duration of this crazy make-along, we will have a few buckets of scrappy balls in different weights. Whitney has donated to the worsted bucket with a generous amount. If you are making a scrappy blankie and need more, we got ‘em. Feel free to add some you don’t want to use or better yet, grab some for your own project.
Okay, we talked about the scraps now let’s chat a bit about the orphan skeins left languishing away in the corner of your stash. You know the ones I’m talking about. You were given a gift, but it’s not found its way into a project yet. In fact, you’re not sure what to do with it. Now’s the time to pull that puppy out and add it to this project. I found a few skeins from several years ago that I have in my scrappy shawl pile.
Now the last part of this project needs to have just one new skein, purchased from the studio recently or in the year 2021. I know, I know, I said this was a scrappy along. Why am I asking you to buy something? To support the studio, of course! It can be a full skein of 100 grams or a half or even a mini. That doesn’t matter.
Wait, what about the patterns? If you’ve been following along, I’ve been giving pattern suggestions a plenty. If you need a reminder, you can check out my Scrappy Along bundle in my Ravelry account here.
Now for the rules. Yes, there has to be a few rules so it’s fair for all when I give away the prizes! Prizes? Did I neglect to say there are prizes? Yep, for all who finish in the allotted timeline, your name will go in for a chance to win 3 fun prize packages! Okay, NOW we can get to the rules:
- At least 50% of your project must be in scraps and/ or orphan skeins. That means leftover balls no matter how big or small the leftover is.
- One newly purchased skein from the studio. (Newly means in 2021)
- Finish by Saturday, September 4, 11:59pm. Must be posted with a before and after picture in the studio group Ravelry thread, event page on Facebook or on Instagram
with the hashtag #studioscrapalong21 to be counted. - Can be knit, crochet, weaving or embroidery.
After all this, are you ready to get your creative juices flowing? I am. May the best luckiest crafter win!
