Last Sunday I enticed Gayle into playing co-pilot as we traveled to a farm and…
New Year! New Yarns!
There are so many new and returning favorites at the Studio! Check them out!
Welcome back Mountain Meadow Wool Cody and Fyberspates Vivacious 4ply. These luscious yarns haven’t been with us in the Studio for a while, so be sure to come by and squish them while they are here!
Mountain Meadow Wool Cody has arrived last week. Each 100% mountain merino/ rambouillet wool sport weight 2 ply/ 50 g skein is lovingly made in Buffalo, Wyoming at the same mill where Farmers Daughter Recollect is spun. I have gathered all natural shades from white to dark grey in both solids and marls that can be added neutrals to your project.
Fyberspates Vivacious 4ply is a robust high twist 100% superwash Merino wool 4ply. This workhorse fingering weight yarn creates a warm but drapey fabric and makes cables pop out for glorious texture. Superb for sweaters and accessories. The hand dyed colours range from saturated bright colours to soft gentle greys and blues, perfect for stripes and colourwork. This soft but tough yarn can be machine washed and even tumble dried on a low temperature. Perfect for children and adults alike and great for socks!
Three more yarns have or are arriving this week as well. A much anticipated shipment from Farmers Daughter Fibers has arrived with our first order of Squish Worsted and a restock of Squish Fingering in new to the studio colorways.
Squish is light, soft, smooth and silky; everything you are looking for in a 100% merino fiber. Easy to work with & incredibly forgiving, these superwash colors are just as vibrant as we have had in the past. Coming in at 218 yds per each 100 g skein, this yarn is perfect when you want a handdyed yarn for your sweaters and baby items. This is a 4 color fade that I’ll be using to make myself a customized Flax (by Tin Can Knits) sweater
Later this week, we expect a box from Shibui with an order of Nest, another one of their awesome custom spun yarns. With a soft inner core of luscious wool and alpaca wrapped in contrasting strands of fine wool, Nest embodies coziness. Knit solo, doubled, or with other yarns for added texture and warmth. Spun with 75% Fine Highland Wool, 25% Alpaca, this DK yarn weighs in at 50g and has 175 yards to each color saturated skein. Look for a trunk show of 5 pieces using this cool yarn in early February!
Last but not least is Berroco Lanas, one of our newest workhorse yarns that I know you will fall in love with. Made from a special blend of 100 % South American wools, Lanas is a classic yarn with a soft touch and beautiful luster. Spun in Peru, each ball is 219 yds per 100 g of worsted weight 4 ply goodness. Perfect for projects that need stitch definition like cables and ganseys or even felting. With 48 colors (not all are represented in the studio), you are sure to find one just for your next project. Did I mention Lanas is economical as well? Oh yeah, at $10.50 a ball you can make a sweater under $100.
We have received a restock of Kelbourne Woolens Scout in many of the favorite colors that have been out of stock since last spring!
Also restocked is Feederbrook Farm Entropy DK, a dyed in the fleece 2-ply color shifting yarn.
We have a limited supply of Super Fine Yarn Co Bold BFL Worsted, Quirky Suri, Riotous Sock and Lush Bulky – get them while the gettin’s good!
